In fact, I suspect that heavy armor will be disadvantageous because, as a 2H build, you’ll want enough dexterity to take advantage of combat reflexes feat and maximize attacks of opportunity, so medium armor with your dex will end up being the equivalent of heavy armor in terms of AC, but you’ll have better reflex saves and more attacks of opportunity.Įdit: If you’re set on WP, I’d strongly encourage not using a 2H build and instead look for a way to maximize your weapon die substitution by going TWF with kukris for crit fishing since the low weapon die won’t matter, but you’ll have a lot of attacks with good weapon die. And if you’re willing to burn the feats to snag martial weapons-which is more important than heavy armor because you’ll never have the necessary AC to tank with any of these builds-you could instead snag erastil and get an animal companion. Or you can look at crusader-which I normally wouldn’t recommend-but it’s much more viable with abundant casting. You can burn feats to snag heavy armor and martial weapons-which is totally doable if you pick human and intend to focus primarily upon strength and less in DC spells-or multiclass to fighter 1 to grab these feats and get an extra feat at the cost of delaying your CL progression to a sorcerer/arcanist speed or grabbing Shelyn and using a glaive-a perfectly fine reach weapon (although somewhat redundant with sosiel). Instead, I’d suggest looking at a 2H cleric. Swift casting buffs is nice, even though it’s resource limited and competes with a tight swift action economy, but is not worth CL 7-9 imo. In virtually every case, I think the trade off is never worth it (with TWF with a thrown weapon dex build and startoss style being the exception, but last time I checked 6 months ago, this build wasn’t possible). That’s especially true with a 2H build, which has no synergy with the war priest’s weapon die substitution. I encourage anyone who considers Warpriest to more or less compare the build to a straight cleric, inquisitor or full martial and ask: what benefits am I receiving for this class and are they worth the trade off. That can maybe help some builds by reducing the stat spread. On a side note: there is mythic weapon finesse, which allows to put DEX to damage instead of STR. Between 2H and wielding a single 1H weapon the damage will probably be a little better with the 2H…5% less crit chance, but better damage on it. Non-fighters can use scimitar/kukri instead. Some 1H weapons have a crit of 18-20, so dualwielding scimitars will produce a lot more damage (a fighter can buy off the disadvantage for not using a light weapon). You can use bracers instead of armor for AC.ĢH weapons deal more damage (in conjunction with power attack, especially the mythic variant), but have typically a crit of 19-20 or even only 20. As long as he is barefisted or wields a single monk weapon, he will flurry. If you give him two weapons, he becomes subject to the 2W rules and will be a cripple, as he lacks all the feats for it. Monks and their flurry are different from two-weapon fighting. War hammers are not monk weapons, things like quarterstaves or kamas are (it’s on the weapon text). What duel weapon or monk feats would i need?įlurry requires unarmed strike or a single monk weapon, which replaces the damage from the fist, and may add special effects like flaming. I don’t really get the monk fighting stuff…for example, would I attack with the warhammer and the off hand or just the warhammer? Does flurry work with this? Again, at least 15 in Warpriest and I’d assume at least 2 in monk but not sure? I really don’t want to wear a robe but I guess I have to with this setup? This would take advantage of Sacred weapons damage increase and the off hand would allow a dip into monk raising AC through that no-weapon-in-your-offhand feat. Any feat suggestions greatly appreciated.ġ hand warhammer with no off hand weapon. Do I dip in anything? I don’t care about the keystone ability but at least want level 15 in Warpriest. Looking at cleave or vital strike, or is just taking three attacks in this case better? It seems that the Warpriest’s sacred weapon ability never increases an Earth Shakers damage (or perhaps by a tiny bit at 20) so it seems kind of like a waste? I’m looking at two options loosely based on a Warhammer Warrior Priest and could use some help.
